Original Compositions

    1. Songs

I have, to date, written 275 songs, including those in 4 full-length musicals.  The musicals are:

Sgt Major Do-Your Best (based on a book by William Booth, the Founder of the Salvation Army)

Brand From The Burning (the story of John Wesley, commissioned by the United Methodist Churches of North Cornwall)

Gethsemane (a song-cycle for Easter)

The Three Bears (yes, based on the fairy tale but with added characters like the 'Reggae Detective')

Several of the songs were recorded by Blood and Fire and played live with Cross Purposes and in solo concerts.  More feature on My Christmas Wish, of course.

Other songs include:

Theme Park USA

With Heart to God and Hand to Man

Don't Leave Me Now

All In My Stride - a song dedicated to one of my favourite bands of the early 1980s - After The Fire

    2. Others

Lots of pieces for brass band, euphonium and other instrumental solos - excerpt from 'Variation Suite' for euphonium (me playing)

3 Fascinations for Oboe and Piano  (slow movement)

2 Wedding Marches

Many piano pieces

Incidental music for many plays and shows - this is Fraulein Schneider's Lament (composed after playing Herr Schultz in Cabaret)

Euphonium music:

Marc passed Grade VIII euphonium with distinction in 1978, aged just 15 and with a record high mark.

Currently principal euphonium with Portsmouth Citadel Salvation Army Band.  This band is one of the most famous bands in the Salvation Army, having toured Germany, Sweden, Italy, Belgium and, most recently (in 2001) the USA. PCB were just the 2nd band in SA history to celebrate their 125th Anniversary in 2005.

Marc has been in the band for 22 years and has been principal euphonium for the last 17 years.  Prior to this he was for 2 years principal trombone.  He is currently the 3rd longest serving (continuous) member of the band.

Solo repertoire during this time has included:

Marc has also featured as a soloist on many occasions during this time on programmes presented by Portsmouth Citadel Songsters.

Prior to moving to Portsmouth Marc played with Colchester, Felixstowe, Bedlington, Tunstall, Torquay and Camborne Salvation Army Bands, featuring as a soloist with all from the age of 12 upwards.
